Job Overview:
The Financial Policy Officer position at the EIB is a pivotal role within the Finance Directorate, specifically in the Strategy, Policies & Business Support Department. The officer will be responsible for conducting research, analysis, and providing advice on best banking practices that align with the activities of the Finance Directorate and address first-line financial risks. This role is essential for contributing to policy decision-making processes within the bank. The officer will work closely with the Head of Division and collaborate with team members to enhance the analytical and policy functions of the division. The position requires a proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to work autonomously while maintaining effective communication with colleagues across various departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Financial Policy Officer will have a range of responsibilities, including monitoring regulatory developments and supervisory guidelines that impact the bank and analyzing their implications for the Finance Directorate. The officer will contribute to the design, testing, implementation, and revision of financial policies related to treasury, capital markets, and back-office activities. Key duties include conducting financial analysis and impact assessments to support discussions in committees, preparing notes and briefings on financial policies, and coordinating the organization of the Regulatory Committee. The officer will also be expected to develop constructive working relationships within the Finance Directorate and represent the bank in inter-directorate working groups and with key stakeholders at European institutions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree, equivalent to at least a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or Law. A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience is required, ideally gained in a major financial institution, consultancy firm, central bank, supervisory authority, or a major international organization. Candidates should have a good understanding of the EIB's mission and financial activities, strong report writing skills, and excellent interpersonal skills. The ability to work independently and a client-oriented approach are essential. Additional advantages include experience in regulatory compliance projects, general knowledge of capital markets, and expertise in financial reporting.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree, preferably in fields related to finance, economics, business administration, or law. This foundational education is critical for understanding the complex financial policies and methodologies that the officer will be involved with at the EIB.

Experience:
The position requires at least five years of relevant professional experience. This experience should ideally be acquired in a major financial institution, consultancy, central bank, supervisory authority, or a significant international organization. Candidates with experience in regulatory compliance, capital markets, and financial reporting will be particularly well-suited for this role.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is essential, and a good command of French is also required. Knowledge of other EU languages would be considered an advantage.
