Job Overview:
The Fleet Maintenance and Driver Coordinator position at CIMMYT is designed for a proactive and detail-oriented professional who will oversee driver operations and fleet maintenance activities. This role is crucial for ensuring that transportation services are safe, efficient, and compliant with regulations. The coordinator will supervise a team of drivers, manage schedules, and implement strategies for optimizing routes and reducing costs. Additionally, the position involves planning and coordinating preventive maintenance for fleet vehicles, ensuring that all operations are cost-effective and reliable. The coordinator will act as a key link between various stakeholders, including management and vendors, to ensure smooth operations and continuous improvement in fleet management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Fleet Maintenance and Driver Coordinator include:
  • Supervising and managing a team of drivers, ensuring compliance with routes, schedules, and safety regulations.
  • Monitoring fuel expenses and efficiency, as well as controlling travel-related expenditures.
  • Implementing route optimization methodologies to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Establishing and reporting key performance indicators (KPIs) for drivers and fleet operations.
  • Developing training and continuous development plans for drivers.
  • Managing driver schedules, performance, and customer service standards.
  • Planning and coordinating preventive maintenance and repair activities for fleet vehicles.
  • Monitoring vehicle inspections and repair timelines to minimize downtime.
  • Maintaining spare parts inventory and coordinating maintenance activities with technicians and service providers. 1
  • Ensuring compliance with safety standards and institutional policies. 1
  • Generating reports on fleet operational expenses and maintenance costs. 1
  • Utilizing fleet management systems for reporting and asset control.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Administration, Transportation, Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet operations, driver supervision, or fleet maintenance coordination is required. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English (minimum B2 level) is essential. Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills are necessary, along with a working knowledge of vehicle maintenance and fleet operations. Proficiency in fleet management systems and advanced Excel skills are also required. Knowledge of transportation regulations and the ability to manage vendor relationships are important for this role.

Educational Background:
