Job Overview:
The Facilities Coordinator position at CIMMYT is a dynamic role that requires a self-motivated and service-oriented individual. This position is crucial for the operations chapter of the Facilities program and is based at CIMMYT's headquarters in El Batán, Texcoco, Mexico, which is conveniently located 45 minutes from Mexico City. The Facilities Coordinator will lead various service projects, including cleaning and pest control, landscaping, and general services operations. The role involves overseeing the maintenance of facilities, ensuring compliance with safety and ergonomic standards, and managing procurement processes. The Facilities Coordinator will also be responsible for developing procedure manuals, coordinating inventories, and supervising the issuance and custody of tools and equipment. This position demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with different departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Facilities Coordinator will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: leading cleaning and pest control service projects, defining objectives and schedules based on identified needs; overseeing landscaping services to ensure timely maintenance of outdoor areas; managing general services operations, including office setups and renovations; supervising the supply and installation of furniture and accessories; coordinating external services such as locksmith and blinds; developing and updating procedure manuals to support ISO certification; managing inventories of tools and equipment; authorizing the disposal or repair of furniture and materials; overseeing the procurement process for facilities and maintenance needs; ensuring proper expense classification in procurement systems; and coordinating administrative requirements for the team, including training and digitization initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil) as a preferred qualification. Additionally, a minimum of four years of experience in a similar role is required. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility, organization, and cleanliness, along with dynamic interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to comply with safety regulations is essential, as the role involves working in areas with electrical installations. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills are also necessary, along with the ability to work rotating shifts and occasionally on rest days.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Architecture or Engineering, specifically in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil disciplines. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the technical aspects of facilities management and ensuring compliance with safety and ergonomic standards.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of four years of relevant experience in facilities management or a similar role. This experience should encompass a range of responsibilities, including project management, procurement, and team coordination, which are essential for effectively overseeing the operations of the Facilities program at CIMMYT.

Languages:
An advanced level of English is mandatory for this position, with candidates expected to demonstrate a minimum proficiency level of C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Proficiency in Spanish may also be beneficial, given the location and the working environment.
