Job Overview:
The Chinese Language Workflow Coordinator will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and quality of Chinese-language resources within FAO’s multilingual communication framework. This position involves providing expert linguistic and terminological knowledge, as well as coordination and guidance to facilitate effective delivery of multilingual services. The incumbent will work closely with various FAO teams, translators, interpreters, and subject-matter specialists to resolve linguistic queries and promote adherence to quality standards. Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will oversee quality assurance processes for the translation of official FAO documents from English into Chinese, ensuring that all outputs meet the organization’s standards for linguistic accuracy and clarity. They will provide strategic support in planning and monitoring Chinese translation workflows, coordinate external translation assignments, and undertake language-related tasks to enhance the quality of Chinese translation services. Additionally, the coordinator will organize and coordinate interpretation services for FAO meetings, provide high-quality interpretation from English into Chinese, prepare post-meeting reports, and offer professional guidance to interpreters and translators on terminology development and validation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in interpreting, translation, or terminology from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO. Alternatively, a first-level degree combined with two years of relevant experience may be considered. A minimum of five years of relevant experience in interpreting, translation, or terminology is required. The candidate must be a native Chinese speaker with excellent working knowledge of English (level C). Knowledge of another FAO language is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
The position requires an advanced university degree in interpreting, translation, or terminology from a recognized institution. In cases where candidates hold a first-level degree, they must also have two years of relevant experience in the field to be considered eligible for the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least five years of relevant experience in interpreting, translation, or terminology.
