Job Overview:
The Event Coordinator will play a crucial role in leading and executing significant events for UNICEF, particularly focused on a major event scheduled for December 11, 202
  • This position involves conceptualizing, planning, and executing events at both the UN Headquarters and UNICEF House, engaging with various stakeholders including member states, private sector representatives, celebrities, and children. The coordinator will also be responsible for managing logistical aspects, troubleshooting technical issues, and developing metrics to evaluate the success of these events. The role requires collaboration with various teams to ensure the events are successful and impactful, and it is essential to gather feedback for future improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of a significant event on December 11 at the UN HQ, including coordination with member states and children.
  • Organize an evening event at UNICEF House involving private sector partners, celebrities, and children.
  • Conceptualize and execute an exhibition at UNICEF House to commemorate 80 years of UNICEF.
  • Share event formats with Country Offices for adaptation and replication.
  • Manage all logistical aspects of the events, including liaising with service providers and UN security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues to ensure high-quality virtual events.
  • Collaborate with building management and IT teams to ensure event technology is secure and scalable.
  • Develop metrics for evaluating event success and impact.
  • Conduct post-event analyses and gather feedback for future strategies. 1
  • Work with budget focal points to track expenditures against allocated resources.

Required Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • At least 6 years of relevant professional experience in project and event management.
  • Proven track record in producing brand activations, high-level events, and virtual events.
  • Experience working with children and knowledge of child safeguarding guidelines is essential.
  • A good understanding of world affairs, current events, and development issues is required.
  • Knowledge of the United Nations or international NGOs is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or Marketing. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of event management and communication strategies necessary for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 6 years of practical and relevant professional work experience in communication, marketing, and event production. Candidates should have a strong background in project management and a proven ability to handle high-profile events and campaigns effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of another UN language such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application.
