The intern will engage in various activities related to the development and implementation of ICAO's technical Annexes and regulatory documents. This role is designed to provide insights into aviation standards development and regulatory frameworks, allowing the intern to contribute to the promotion of ICAO's Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) within the global aviation community. The intern will work closely with Technical Officers and be involved in research, document review, and the preparation of technical materials, thereby enhancing their understanding of aviation safety and operational standards.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a range of tasks under the guidance of the Chief of the OPS Section and relevant Technical Officers. Key responsibilities include conducting research on assigned topics, analyzing information, and presenting findings for internal review. The intern will assist in reviewing documents to identify key issues and gaps, support the preparation of draft background papers and reports, and contribute to the review and update of ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs). Additional duties include assisting Technical Officers with correspondence, conducting data analysis, and contributing to AI-related tasks. The intern may also be assigned other related duties as necessary, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience in the field of aviation safety.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed or be enrolled in a degree program related to the work of the OPS Section. Relevant fields of study include Air Transport Management, Aviation Management, Human Factors, Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, Aviation Safety, Data Science, and Computer Science, among others. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong interest in aviation regulation and safety oversight, along with excellent research and communication skills in English.
Educational Background: Candidates are expected to have a degree or be enrolled in a degree program in a relevant field such as Aviation Management, Aeronautical Engineering, Human Factors, or Data Science. The educational background should align with the responsibilities of the internship, focusing on areas that contribute to the development and implementation of aviation safety standards and practices.
Experience: While specific prior experience is not mandatory, candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in aviation and regulatory frameworks. Experience in research, writing, or any related field will be beneficial. Additional Notes: The internship is a full-time position, requiring interns to work five days a week. Interns are not permitted to engage in any other form of employment during their internship period and must adhere to the organization's official instructions and guidelines.
