Job Posting Organization: The UNFPA Chad actively supports the government in its development efforts to implement its Vision 2030 'The Chad We Want' and its five-year development plans. The support from UNFPA is focused on its sequential strategic plans (SP 2018-2021; SP 2022-2025; and SP 2026-2029) emphasizing three transformative results: Zero avoidable maternal deaths; zero unmet need for family planning; and zero GBV and harmful practices. UNFPA provides medical reproductive health products and equipment across the country, focusing on health facilities in seven provinces, three of which are humanitarian. In the Lake Chad, Moyen Chari, and Logone Oriental provinces, UNFPA supports 34 health facilities by providing midwives, equipment, and products. Projects for the empowerment of women and adolescents are also conducted with income-generating activities for women's associations, preacher associations, and other women's groups. You will support the effective management of UNFPA activities in the areas of population and development, reproductive health, and gender, particularly in preventing and responding to GBV and other harmful practices. Through in-depth analysis and assessment of political, social, and economic trends, you will contribute to the formulation and evaluation of projects, joint programming initiatives, resource mobilization, and national development frameworks. You will monitor the results achieved during implementation, appropriately applying systems and procedures, including GBV/IMIS, and innovating accordingly.
Job Overview: The UNFPA Logistic Assistant will support all logistical operations related to the supplies of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), under the supervision of the supply chain specialist and in close collaboration with the country office Supply Chain team in Chad. The role involves providing quality logistical services and supporting operations in compliance with existing rules, guidelines, processes, and procedures. The assistant will contribute to updating and implementing the operational concept of the Chad corridor for logistics, including import circuits, movement of goods (corridors), storage (hubs), and distribution networks to affected areas. The position requires ensuring the overall logistics of UNFPA supplies in close collaboration with the operations team of the Sudan country office. The assistant will work with relevant humanitarian partners to optimize UNFPA's supply chain and coordinate with health sector partners and UN agencies for planning and developing the medical supply chain in response to needs. This role also involves reviewing shipping documents and coordinating with competent authorities to authorize shipments while ensuring compliance with export and transport procedures defined by national authorities, OCHA, or the UN Country Team. The assistant will handle import documents and other relevant documentation for incoming shipments as well as documentation related to cross-border operations in Chad. Administrative support will be provided in maintaining records of shipments, inventories, and inspection reports related to the Sudan country office shipments, including receiving deliveries in warehouses, conducting physical inventories and inspections, reporting damaged or lost items, and coordinating storage and unloading with warehouse focal points. The assistant will organize supplies and supervise loading operations in N'Djamena to ensure that no items are omitted during transport from temporary warehouses (WFP) to UNFPA's Mobile Storage Unit in Abéché. Identifying appropriate storage structures and transporters for medical supplies is also part of the role. The assistant may need to travel to Abéché/Adré to supervise loading and unloading operations and coordinate cross-border movements. Additionally, the assistant will review and process supplier invoices in collaboration with finance colleagues from the Chad and Sudan country offices and coordinate with the part-time logistics assistant based in Abéché regarding loading and unloading operations of supplies and trucks, as well as the transportation of supplies across the border to Sudan.

Experience: A minimum of two years of relevant experience in logistics and supply chain management, preferably in a humanitarian or development context. Experience working with UN agencies or international organizations is an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory. Proficiency in English is desirable. Knowledge of local languages is an asset.
Additional Notes: The UN Volunteer will be based in N'Djamena, with occasional travel to Abéché and Adré as operational needs require. The position will be in a demanding humanitarian context, requiring adaptability, flexibility, and resilience. Living conditions in N'Djamena may be basic, and public services are limited.
