Job Overview:
The United Nations Volunteer (UNV) will perform essential office support and management functions within the FAO office in Kinshasa. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth flow of work and information within the office, requiring a deep understanding of the organization's policies, procedures, and practices. The UNV will provide guidance on these procedures to both management and staff, working under the supervision of the Administration Officer. The position involves collaboration with various divisions at headquarters and decentralized offices, contributing to the overall administrative efficiency of the FAO-RDC unit. The UNV will be responsible for maintaining financial records, managing office systems, and ensuring compliance with budgetary constraints, thereby playing a vital role in the operational success of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UNV will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: maintaining financial records and controlling office systems; managing petty cash and monitoring project accounts; collecting, entering, selecting, and analyzing data from various sources; verifying the accuracy of data documents; ensuring operational disbursements align with approved budgets; preparing administrative and financial correspondence; maintaining detailed records of budget forecasts and obligations; producing reports on the budgetary status of office accounts; ensuring proper inventory management; liaising with local banks and financial institutions; supporting the streamlining of procedures and practices; assisting with personnel and equipment administration; and performing other related tasks as required. The effectiveness of the UNV's work will significantly impact the efficiency and timeliness of administrative support services and the overall outcomes of the work unit.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate strong judgment, confidentiality, integrity, initiative, and a high sense of responsibility and organizational skills. They should possess analytical skills and the ability to work under pressure while managing priorities effectively. A proven ability to work in a multicultural team environment and maintain harmonious working relationships both internally and externally is essential. Familiarity with the United Nations system and previous experience with UN organizations or international NGOs is highly desirable. Clear and concise communication skills are required, along with proficiency in communication tools such as Outlook and its functions.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required, typically including a degree in administration, finance, or a related field. Candidates should have a solid understanding of administrative and financial procedures, as well as experience in data management and analysis.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in administrative support roles, preferably within the context of international organizations or NGOs. Experience with financial management and reporting, as well as familiarity with UN regulations and procedures, will be advantageous. The ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to a dynamic work environment is crucial.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the working language of the FAO in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international colleagues and stakeholders.
