Job Overview:
The position of Individual Contractor on Financing for Development Data Analysis involves providing analytical and technical support to the Financing for Development Team. The contractor will contribute to the econometric models of the GUARD tool and produce policy-relevant analytical outputs to support project objectives. This role requires the contractor to manage and update datasets, conduct statistical analysis, and develop visualizations to illustrate findings related to phantom Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and illicit financial flows (IFFs). The contractor will also be responsible for preparing reports, presentations, and other analytical products, collaborating closely with team members to support project activities and expert meetings.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Individual Contractor include: extracting, compiling, and managing bilateral and sectoral FDI datasets; reviewing and validating FDI-related data; providing technical support for econometric modeling; contributing to the development of risk profiles; mapping risk indicators; maintaining structured datasets; developing statistical tables and visualizations; conducting statistical analysis for project outputs; assisting in literature reviews and presentations; and collaborating with team members on various project-related tasks.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in economics, applied economics, finance, econometrics, or a related field. A minimum of two years of professional experience in research, data extraction, or statistical tools is required, along with at least one year of experience in user-friendly tools for trend analysis and visualization. Proficiency in statistical software such as STATA or EVIEWS is essential, along with knowledge of time series macro econometric models and panel data analysis. Familiarity with Vector Autoregressive Models (VARs) or Structural VAR is desirable, as is knowledge of panel data modeling approaches including fixed effects and generalized method of moments (GMM).

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree in economics, applied economics, finance, econometrics, or a related area is required for this position. Candidates must submit a copy of their educational degree as part of the application process, and incomplete applications will not be considered.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of professional work experience in research, data extraction, or the use of statistical tools. Additionally, candidates should have at least one year of experience in developing user-friendly tools for trend analysis and visualization, demonstrating a solid understanding of statistical methodologies and their application in real-world scenarios.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is required for this position, as these are the working languages of the United Nations and ESCWA. Fluency is defined as a rating of 'fluent' in all four areas: speaking, reading, writing, and understanding. Knowledge of French is also beneficial, as it is one of the working languages of the UN Secretariat.
