Job Overview: The ICT Specialist - Systems Support will play a crucial role in the implementation and maintenance of key system requirements for the OneGMS platform, which is essential for the operational success of the organization. The incumbent will work closely with the OneGMS Team Lead and other technical leads to ensure that the platform meets the evolving needs of the organization. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering high-quality technical solutions. The specialist will be responsible for developing and optimizing .NET-based application components, ensuring that the platform is secure, available, and performs optimally. Additionally, the role involves translating business requirements into technical specifications, thereby ensuring that the solutions developed are aligned with organizational goals. The incumbent will also be expected to support the integration of new technologies and development practices, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the systems in place.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the OneGMS Team Lead and other stakeholders to gather and analyze system requirements.
Develop, test, and deploy .NET-based application components that meet the specified requirements.
Ensure the availability, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, and performance of the OneGMS platform and related systems.
Document technical specifications and maintain comprehensive records of system configurations and changes.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for system issues, ensuring timely resolution.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of coding standards and practices.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and recommend their adoption to enhance system capabilities.
Work collaboratively with a distributed team of developers and system engineers to deliver reliable technical solutions.
Assist in training and mentoring junior staff and team members on best practices and new technologies.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of security best practices in software development and system management.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. A master's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant area is preferred. Professional certifications in software development or project management would be an advantage.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in information and communications technology, with a focus on systems support and software development. Experience in a humanitarian or international organization is a plus. Proven track record of successfully delivering technical solutions in a collaborative environment is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of French or another UN language is desirable and would be considered an asset.
Additional Notes: This position is classified at the mid-level (ICS 10) and is offered as an ongoing contract, subject to good performance and availability of funds. The role is full-time and may involve working with international teams, requiring flexibility in working hours to accommodate different time zones.
