Job Overview:
The Lead Technical Advisor for Private Sector Development will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing strategies that enhance the private sector's contribution to economic development in Afghanistan. This position requires a deep understanding of the local economic landscape and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including government entities, private sector actors, and international partners. The advisor will be responsible for identifying opportunities for investment and growth, facilitating partnerships, and providing technical guidance to ensure that initiatives are sustainable and impactful. The role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to navigate complex challenges in a dynamic environment. The advisor will also be expected to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote private sector development in Afghanistan, focusing on sustainable economic growth.
  • Collaborate with local businesses, government agencies, and international organizations to identify and leverage opportunities for investment.
  • Provide technical assistance and advisory services to enhance the capacity of local enterprises.
  • Conduct market assessments and feasibility studies to inform design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design and implementation.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of private sector initiatives, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Facilitate training and capacity-building workshops for local stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders, highlighting progress and outcomes.
  • Represent the organization in meetings and forums related to private sector development.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in private sector development, economic growth, or related fields.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with government officials, private sector leaders, and international partners.
  • Knowledge of the economic and business environment in Afghanistan is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in Business Administration, Economics, International Development, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in project management or private sector development will be considered an asset.

Experience:
A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in private sector development, economic policy, or related areas is required. Experience working in challenging environments, particularly in Afghanistan or similar contexts, is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Dari or Pashto is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance the effectiveness of initiatives.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified at the senior level (ICS 11) and is offered as an ongoing ICA contract, subject to organizational requirements and availability of funds. The role is full-time and requires a commitment to working in a challenging environment.
