Job Overview:

The primary goal of this section is to foster inclusive and sustainable economic growth by leveraging digital opportunities for development gains, particularly focusing on empowering women in digital entrepreneurship. Interns are expected to work full-time, five days a week, for a duration of four months, starting from August 3, 202
  • This internship is unpaid and requires the intern to cover all associated costs, including travel, accommodation, and living expenses. The role involves assisting in various analytical and organizational tasks related to digital economies and female entrepreneurship, with training and mentoring provided throughout the internship.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: assisting in the planning and organization of capacity-building initiatives aimed at empowering women digital entrepreneurs from the Global South; supporting communication with stakeholders and preparing background documentation; drafting inputs for analytical studies, policy briefs, and presentations; organizing workshops on empowering women entrepreneurs in e-commerce and digital businesses; providing substantive support for document preparation; proofreading, editing, and translating documents; assisting in the organization of briefings and meetings; preparing communication materials for planned activities; and supporting other activities of the Section as required. Interns are also expected to adhere to the rules and regulations of the UN and respect the confidentiality of information obtained during their internship.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet specific criteria to be eligible for the UN internship programme. They should either be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent) or be in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level). Additionally, interns should be computer literate in standard software applications, demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations, and possess the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. No prior work experience is required, but a relevant field of study is necessary to benefit the UN during the internship.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor's or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master's or Ph.D. programme. Proof of enrollment or completion must be provided with the application. The educational background should be closely related to the internship's focus on e-commerce, digital economy, or related fields.

Experience:
No prior professional work experience is required for this internship. However, applicants should have relevant academic training or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the internship. The focus is on providing students or recent graduates with practical experience in the UN environment.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English and Chinese is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's profile and ability to communicate effectively in a multilingual environment.
