Job Overview: The Information Management Officer position at UNICEF Mozambique is crucial for supporting the organization in identifying and GIS mapping the most vulnerable children, particularly those affected by emergencies and disasters. This role involves leveraging survey, routine, and administrative data to ensure data centralization and mapping for situation monitoring. The officer will work closely with various stakeholders, including Programme Section Chiefs, Chiefs of Field Offices, and Sector Cluster Coordinators, to enhance the preparedness, targeting, and coordination of development and humanitarian interventions. The position also entails contributing to the establishment of an effective decentralized monitoring system, validating sector Management Information Systems data across multiple sectors, and providing capacity building on Information Management for UNICEF Mozambique Sections, Field Offices, and partners. The officer will be supervised by a Planning and Monitoring Specialist and will play a vital role in the integrated planning, monitoring, and data system for the Country Office.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Information Management Officer will be responsible for a variety of key functions, including:
Information Management and Analysis: Collecting, analyzing, and managing data related to vulnerable children and humanitarian needs.
Monitoring and Reporting: Developing and maintaining monitoring systems to track progress and report on key indicators.
Innovation, Knowledge Management, and Dissemination: Utilizing innovative approaches to data management and ensuring effective dissemination of information to stakeholders.
Capacity Building: Providing training and support to UNICEF staff and partners on Information Management practices and tools.
GIS Mapping: Conducting GIS mapping to visualize data and support decision-making processes.
Collaboration: Working closely with other Information Management Officers across Sections and Field Offices to ensure consistency and quality in data management practices.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for the Information Management Officer position, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
Education: A Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Social Sciences, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related technical field is required.
Work Experience: At least 2 years of professional work experience in Information Management, including data analysis, is required.
Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Portuguese is required, with knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) considered an asset.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in a relevant field such as Social Sciences, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related technical discipline. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of data management and analysis in the context of UNICEF's work.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of professional work experience in Information Management, specifically in data analysis. Candidates should have experience working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and be familiar with data management practices in both development and humanitarian contexts. Languages: Fluency in English and Portuguese is mandatory for this position.
