Job Overview: The National Consultant Team member 1 will play a crucial role in the evaluation of the Nigeria United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for the period of 2023 to 202
This position requires a deep understanding of the UN's strategic objectives in Nigeria and the ability to assess the effectiveness of the UNSDCF in achieving its goals. The consultant will be expected to analyze data, engage with stakeholders, and provide insights that will inform future programming and policy decisions. The role is designed for individuals who can work independently while also collaborating with a team of consultants and UNDP staff. The assignment is expected to last for 26 working days, during which the consultant will conduct evaluations, prepare reports, and present findings to relevant stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the Nigeria UNSDCF 2023–2027, assessing its relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, impact, and sustainability.
Engage with various stakeholders, including government officials, civil society organizations, and UN agencies, to gather qualitative and quantitative data.
Analyze collected data to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities related to the implementation of the UNSDCF.
Prepare detailed evaluation reports that summarize findings, conclusions, and recommendations for improving the UNSDCF.
Present evaluation results to UNDP and other stakeholders, facilitating discussions on the implications of the findings.
Collaborate with other team members to ensure a cohesive approach to the evaluation process.
Adhere to UNDP's ethical standards and guidelines throughout the evaluation process.
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience in conducting evaluations, particularly in the context of international development or UN programs.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and present findings clearly.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Familiarity with the UN system and its operational frameworks, particularly in relation to sustainable development.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in social sciences, international development, public policy, or a related field is required. A PhD or equivalent advanced degree is preferred and may be an advantage in the evaluation process.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in evaluation, research, or related fields is required. Experience working with UN agencies or similar organizations is highly desirable. Familiarity with the Nigerian context and development challenges will be considered an asset.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Nigeria is an advantage and may enhance communication with stakeholders during the evaluation process.
Additional Notes: This position is classified as an individual contractor role, and the contract duration is for 26 working days. The consultant is expected to work remotely, with the possibility of travel within Nigeria if necessary.
