Job Overview:
The position of Social Researcher involves conducting qualitative research to gather insights on gender issues and the rights of indigenous and rural communities in Peru. The researcher will be responsible for designing and implementing research methodologies such as focus groups, semi-structured interviews, and participant observation. The role requires a deep understanding of the socio-economic context of regions like Arequipa and the ability to analyze both qualitative and quantitative data to produce comprehensive reports. The researcher will also engage with local communities to facilitate discussions and ensure that their voices are heard in the research process. This position is crucial for informing policy recommendations and advocating for the rights of marginalized groups.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and implement qualitative research methodologies, including focus groups and interviews, to gather data on gender issues and community rights.
• Conduct thorough analysis of gender dynamics with an intersectional approach, particularly in rural and indigenous contexts.
• Synthesize quantitative and qualitative data to create comprehensive reports that inform policy and advocacy efforts.
• Engage with local communities to facilitate participatory research processes and ensure their perspectives are included.
• Stay updated on national and international legal frameworks regarding women's rights, indigenous peoples, and rural communities.
• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to enhance research outcomes and impact.
• Present findings to various audiences, including policymakers, community members, and academic circles.

Required Qualifications:

• Proven experience in qualitative research methodologies, particularly in social research.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on gender analysis and intersectionality.
• Familiarity with the legal frameworks related to women's rights and indigenous peoples in Peru.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including community members and policymakers.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in Spanish. Knowledge of Quechua is desirable but not mandatory.

Educational Background:
A degree in social sciences, anthropology, gender studies, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees (Master's or PhD) are preferred, particularly those focusing on gender studies or indigenous rights.

Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in social research, with a strong emphasis on gender analysis and community engagement. Experience working in rural or indigenous contexts, particularly in relation to extractive industries, is highly valued.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory. Knowledge of Quechua is desirable but not a requirement for the position.
