Job Overview: The HQ Security Officer position within the Protective Security & Emergency Service Branch (PSESB) is pivotal for enforcing NATO HQ Security Regulations. The officer is tasked with investigating incidents of misconduct and security breaches, setting preventive measures, and overseeing construction projects at NATO HQ to ensure compliance with security protocols. This role demands flexibility, as it may require working outside normal hours and occasional travel. The officer will collaborate closely with various stakeholders to implement security measures effectively and ensure the safety of NATO's operations and personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities: The HQ Security Officer will assist the Head of HQ Security and Awareness in implementing security measures and enforcing regulations. Key responsibilities include investigating security incidents, proposing and drafting security procedures, managing and supervising work projects, and ensuring effective stakeholder cooperation. The officer will also be responsible for training and mentoring team members, providing guidance on objectives, and identifying opportunities for process improvements. Additionally, the officer will coordinate with procurement officers to insert security clauses in contracts related to construction and other works at NATO HQ, ensuring compliance with security policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree or an equivalent qualification relevant to the position. A minimum of 5 years of experience in implementing security policies and developing procedures is required, along with experience in conducting security investigations. Excellent writing skills are essential for drafting clear reports and procedural instructions. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in NATO's official languages, achieving at least a level V (Advanced) in one language and III (Intermediate) in the other. Experience in construction security and knowledge of computer security will be considered advantageous.

Additional Notes: The successful applicant will be offered a definite duration contract of three years, with the possibility of renewal for up to three additional years.
