Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Programme Management Officer will take the lead in initiating analysis and proposing new policies related to conduct and discipline. Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in areas such as human rights, law, dispute resolution, project management, or administration. At least five years of experience specifically related to conduct and discipline matters is required. Experience in field operations, particularly in complex emergencies or post-conflict environments, is essential. Candidates should also have experience in analyzing legal issues related to conduct and discipline for uniformed personnel and in conducting investigations and formulating policies in this area.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, management, economics, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) combined with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in relevant fields, with a strong emphasis on human rights, law, and conduct and discipline matters. Candidates should have substantial experience in analyzing problems related to conduct and discipline, particularly in the context of UN peacekeeping operations.
Languages: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
