Job Overview: The Social Behaviour Change Consultant will be responsible for developing a Strategic Roadmap aimed at enhancing UNICEF's global knowledge and leadership in social and behaviour change (SBC) initiatives, particularly in preventing harmful practices such as female genital mutilation (FGM) and child marriage. This role involves leveraging UNICEF's existing investments in evidence, tools, and partnerships to identify opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing. The consultant will play a crucial role in supporting UNICEF's goal to eliminate harmful practices by 2030, strengthening its position as a leader in SBC, and providing actionable recommendations for advancing learning and technical excellence in this area. The consultant will work remotely and is expected to deliver high-quality outputs that align with UNICEF's mission and objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be tasked with the following duties and responsibilities:
Develop a comprehensive Strategic Roadmap that outlines key strategies for enhancing SBC knowledge and practices within UNICEF.
Conduct thorough landscape analyses to identify existing gaps and opportunities in SBC initiatives related to harmful practices.
Facilitate stakeholder consultations to gather insights and foster collaboration among various partners.
Synthesize findings and develop high-quality knowledge products that can be utilized by UNICEF and its partners.
Provide practical recommendations for improving visibility and technical excellence in SBC initiatives.
Support the development of learning agendas and knowledge management initiatives that align with UNICEF's strategic goals.
Ensure that all deliverables meet UNICEF's standards for quality and relevance.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess the following qualifications:
An advanced university degree (Master’s) in Social and Behaviour Change, Social Sciences, Public Health, International Development, Sociology, Anthropology, Communications, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in social and behaviour change (SBC), social norms, or knowledge management.
Proven experience in developing strategic frameworks, learning agendas, or knowledge management initiatives.
Demonstrated ability to conduct landscape analyses and facilitate stakeholder consultations.
Excellent analytical and strategic writing skills, with a track record of producing high-quality knowledge products for international organizations.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Master’s) in relevant fields such as Social and Behaviour Change, Social Sciences, Public Health, International Development, Sociology, Anthropology, Communications, or a related discipline. This advanced education is essential to ensure that the consultant has the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to effectively contribute to UNICEF's objectives in social and behaviour change.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the field of social and behaviour change (SBC), with a focus on social norms or knowledge management. Candidates should have a proven track record of developing strategic frameworks and conducting landscape analyses, as well as experience in stakeholder consultations. This level of experience is crucial for the consultant to effectively navigate the complexities of SBC initiatives and contribute to UNICEF's mission.
Languages: The mandatory language requirement for this position is excellent written and spoken English.
