Job Overview:
The National Senior Technical Consultant on Energy Transition will play a crucial role in supporting the Energy Transition initiatives under the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP). This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including national coordinators, communications officers, and other working groups. The consultant will be responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance on energy transition strategies, ensuring alignment with national policies and international best practices. The consultant will also engage with relevant organizations and individuals to facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity building in the energy sector. The assignment is expected to last for 120 days, from July to December 2026, and aims to enhance the effectiveness of energy transition efforts in Vietnam.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Collaborate with focal points of EAV and SSA to develop and implement energy transition strategies.
  • Work closely with national and international stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination of efforts.
  • Provide technical advice and support in the formulation of policies and programs related to energy transition.
  • Conduct research and analysis on energy transition trends and best practices.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions to build capacity among stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports and documentation on progress and outcomes of energy transition initiatives.
  • Engage with local communities to promote awareness and participation in energy transition efforts.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of implemented strategies and provide recommendations for improvement.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in energy transition, sustainable development, or related fields. They should have proven experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and technical advisory roles. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment. A strong understanding of Vietnam's energy policies and frameworks is essential, along with the ability to navigate complex institutional landscapes.

Educational Background:
A master's degree in energy management, environmental science, sustainable development, or a related field is required. Candidates with a PhD or equivalent experience in relevant areas will be given preference. Continuous professional development in energy transition or related fields is also advantageous.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in energy transition, policy development, or project management. Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, or NGOs in Vietnam or similar contexts is highly desirable. Proven track record of successful project implementation and stakeholder engagement is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Vietnamese is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the region may be considered an asset.
