Job Overview: The STEM Trainee position is designed for recent women graduates in Mozambique, focusing on providing hands-on experience in sustainable energy, clean cooking policy, and renewable energy financing. The Trainee will work closely with SEforALL and its partners, gaining practical skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in the global sustainable energy sector. The traineeship will consist of two main components: virtual professional development training and activity-based technical training. The role will involve supporting key energy access initiatives in Mozambique, with a strong emphasis on gender equality and empowering women in the energy sector. The Trainee will be supervised by the Programme Manager, Gender & Youth, and will engage in various projects aimed at enhancing energy access and promoting sustainable practices.
Duties and Responsibilities: The STEM Trainee will be involved in several key areas, including:
Clean Cooking Working Group Facilitation & Operations: Coordinating logistics for meetings, preparing agendas, taking minutes, tracking action items, compiling research inputs, and developing presentations for international forums.
PURE Facility Pilot Support: Conducting research on the PURE ecosystem, analyzing data on costs and barriers, developing awareness materials, and collaborating with project teams.
Monitoring & Evidence-based Insights: Producing analytical briefs and insights to inform decisions and support project partners in data processing.
Communications & Social Media: Creating engaging digital content for advocacy and stakeholder outreach. The Trainee will also participate in soft skills and technical training sessions to enhance their professional development and understanding of the energy sector.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must be enrolled in or have recently graduated from a university program in a STEM field, such as sciences, renewable energy, engineering, data science, or geographic information systems. While prior work experience is not required, any experience in energy, engineering, finance, communications, or related fields would be advantageous. The position is specifically aimed at women aged 18 to 35 residing in Mozambique, emphasizing the importance of gender equality in the energy sector.
Educational Background: Candidates should be pursuing or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in a relevant STEM field within three years prior to their application. This educational background is crucial for understanding the technical aspects of the projects the Trainee will be involved in, particularly in renewable energy and data analysis.
