Job Overview: The Programme Associate (Nutrition) position at WFP involves providing specialized support and technical analyses to policy and program activities that effectively address food assistance needs. The role is crucial in ensuring that nutrition-specific and sensitive activities align with broader program policies and guidelines. The associate will be responsible for project management support, ensuring that various nutrition-related activities are executed within established targets and adhere to WFP’s policies and procedures. This position requires the preparation of reports and data analyses related to food assistance needs, resource utilization, and program performance, ensuring that all deliverables meet corporate standards. The associate will also liaise with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and monitor ongoing project activities, contributing to the overall effectiveness of WFP’s nutrition programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical support and assist in the development and implementation of nutrition-specific, sensitive, and Social Behavior Change (SBC) activities, ensuring alignment with wider program policies and guidelines.
Offer specialized project management support to nutrition programs, ensuring activities are performed within established targets and in compliance with WFP’s policies.
Prepare a range of reports and data analyses related to nutrition-specific, nutrition-sensitive, and SBC interventions, highlighting trends and ensuring adherence to corporate standards.
Ensure accurate and timely recording of data within the technical area of work, maintaining consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
Liaise with internal and external counterparts to support effective collaboration and implementation of ongoing project activities.
Coordinate with local partners, agencies, NGOs, UNs, and government institutions to perform accurate nutrition program data analyses and ensure efficient delivery of activities.
Support capacity building of WFP staff, cooperating partners, and national government in responding to nutrition needs.
Act as a point of contact for resolving operational queries and problems within the technical area, including financial processes and monthly food requisitions.
Oversee and review the work of support staff, providing guidance to meet objectives and deadlines. 1
Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP can quickly respond to crises, particularly for nutrition-specific interventions.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a University Degree (Bachelor's or equivalent) in Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, or a relevant field. A strong understanding of nutrition programs and humanitarian contexts is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to WFP’s values and mission, showcasing integrity, collaboration, and a commitment to humanitarian principles. Additionally, candidates should have strong analytical skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of nutrition programs and their implementation in humanitarian settings.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 6 years of overall experience in humanitarian and complex emergencies, with a focus on nutrition programs or related fields. This experience should demonstrate a solid understanding of the challenges and requirements of implementing effective nutrition interventions in crisis situations.
Languages: Fluency in both spoken and written English and Bangla is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders and partners.
Additional Notes: This position is a Fixed Term contract for a duration of 12 months, based in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh.
