Job Overview:
The Assistant Information Management Officer plays a crucial role in the production and dissemination of information regarding populations of concern, which includes refugees and internally displaced persons. This position involves operationalizing data standards developed at the central level and implementing them in field operations. The incumbent will compile and analyze data to support program management and decision-making processes. The role requires a strong understanding of monitoring and evaluation principles, as well as the ability to develop monitoring plans and facilitate capacity-building efforts among diverse audiences. The Assistant Information Management Officer will also be responsible for training staff involved in information management activities and ensuring the quality and consistency of data collected. This position is essential for supporting the Programme Team and UNHCR's implementing partners in selecting appropriate indicators for monitoring and operationalizing protection monitoring systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Information Management Officer include operationalizing country-specific common data standards, compiling and analyzing data to produce standardized information products, and implementing data collection plans. The incumbent will support data quality control and facilitate cross-border information analysis. Additionally, the role involves training staff on information management activities, leveraging geographic data for map production, and providing technical support for needs assessment processes. The Assistant Information Management Officer will liaise with partners, represent UNHCR in relevant meetings, and make recommendations on technical information management requirements. The position also requires identifying and managing risks while seeking opportunities that impact objectives in the area of responsibility.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Assistant Information Management Officer position must possess a strong understanding of the UN system and the humanitarian community. Essential qualifications include the ability to formulate information management-related technical requirements and operating procedures, as well as experience in handling confidential data and understanding various data collection methodologies. Desirable qualifications include successful participation in the Operational Data Management Learning Programme, experience in web design and software development, and familiarity with relevant software such as ArcGIS, SPSS, and SQL Server.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an undergraduate degree in Information Technology, Demography, Statistics, Social Sciences, or a related field. Candidates with a graduate degree or doctorate in these areas may also be considered, particularly if they have relevant experience in information management or data analysis.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of relevant experience for candidates with an undergraduate degree. Candidates with a graduate degree or doctorate may be considered with no prior experience. Languages:
For this position, knowledge of English is mandatory, along with proficiency in the UN working language of the duty station if it is not English.
