Job Overview:
As an Economics Analyst at ADB, you will play a crucial role in supporting the economic research and data science initiatives of the Macroeconomics Research Division within the Economic Research and Development Impact Department. Your responsibilities will include providing analytical support for the preparation of flagship publications such as the Asian Development Outlook (ADO) reports, engaging in quantitative analysis, and managing economic databases. You will also contribute to research involving large datasets and high-frequency data analytics, assist in technical assistance processing, and support various economic research projects. This position requires a strong foundation in economics, data science, and quantitative analysis, as well as the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Economics Analyst include:
  • Providing analytical support for the preparation and dissemination of economic research, including ADO reports and TA-funded research projects.
  • Conducting economic data analysis using various approaches, including traditional econometrics and advanced data science techniques.
  • Assisting in directed research work, including data collection, database management, statistical analysis, and data presentation.
  • Reviewing and synthesizing economic literature and presenting ideas and empirical results clearly.
  • Supporting the preparation of ADO global and regional outlook chapters, analytical chapters, and country chapters.
  • Providing technical and administrative support for planning, processing, and implementing research and development TA projects.
  • Maintaining computer-based information systems for analysis and modeling, including data collection and advanced analytics.
  • Assisting in the preparation of the divisional budget and organizing staff learning programs.
  • Performing other assignments as directed by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for the Economics Analyst position, candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, or Data Science, preferably with advanced training in econometrics. Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in quantitative analysis, data management, economic research, and data science, with a demonstrated ability in economic research writing. A strong understanding of economics, economic data, policy issues, and development trends in the Asia-Pacific region is essential. Proficiency in statistical/econometric software (particularly Stata/Eviews and Matlab), database applications, and automated routines is required. Knowledge of programming languages such as Python and R, as well as familiarity with business intelligence and analytical tools, is advantageous. Candidates should also possess high analytical and conceptual skills, along with written and verbal proficiency in English.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, or Data Science. Advanced training in econometrics is preferred, indicating a strong foundation in quantitative analysis and data science methodologies.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in fields such as quantitative analysis, data management, economic research, and data science. This experience should include a demonstrated ability to conduct economic research and write effectively about economic topics.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, both written and verbal. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an advantage but is not explicitly required for this position.
