Job Overview:
The Human Resources Support Officer will join a multicultural team of approximately 20 Talent Acquisition colleagues at CERN. This role is pivotal in attracting and hiring diverse talent to support CERN's scientific and technical missions. The successful candidate will partner with various client groups, leveraging their knowledge and diverse strengths to meet ambitious goals, such as increasing the representation of women in STEM and enhancing nationality diversity in all types of hires, from students to seasoned professionals. The position requires handling high volumes of recruitment and contributing to the creation of exceptional recruitment experiences for all stakeholders involved. The officer will be responsible for translating hiring needs into market-ready job advertisements and attraction strategies, ensuring a fair, transparent, and inclusive selection process, and delivering a seamless candidate experience from initial contact through to onboarding.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Human Resources Support Officer will have a range of responsibilities, including:
  • Partnering with hiring teams and stakeholder groups to understand and deliver on their recruitment needs, translating these needs into effective job ads and attraction strategies.
  • Facilitating fair, transparent, and inclusive selection processes to ensure a diverse candidate pool.
  • Delivering a welcoming and inclusive candidate experience throughout the recruitment process, from first contact to offer and onboarding.
  • Building and engaging relevant talent communities to enhance recruitment efforts.
  • Contributing to employer branding strategies and implementing them through proposals, public engagement via social media, and representing CERN at various events.
  • Supporting the development of future recruitment processes, particularly for students and graduates, by staying informed about industry trends and translating findings into creative collaborations.
  • Utilizing internal and external data for informed decision-making and reporting on recruitment metrics.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Additionally, they should have experience in end-to-end recruitment within an in-house team, ideally in an international context. Proficiency in sourcing and engaging talent across various roles, as well as experience with employer branding, social media, and outreach initiatives, is essential. Familiarity with HR data and analytics to support decision-making is considered an asset. Technical competencies required include mastery of talent acquisition processes and best practices, strong customer service skills, proficiency in direct sourcing techniques, and knowledge of applicant tracking systems and web-based applications.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding recruitment processes and human resource management.

Experience:
Candidates should have experience in end-to-end recruitment processes, ideally within an in-house team in an international environment. This includes sourcing and engaging talent across different roles and familiarity with employer branding and outreach initiatives. Experience with HR data and analytics to drive informed decision-making is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory, and candidates should demonstrate a commitment to learning French, which is considered a valuable asset for the role.

Additional Notes:
The position is a limited duration contract for three years, with the possibility of extension up to eight years and eligibility for an indefinite contract tenure. The working hours are set at 40 hours per week, and the job offers hybrid flexibility. The job grade is classified as 4-5, and the reference for this job is HR-TA-2026-130-LD. CERN offers a competitive salary that is tax-free and increases with relevant experience. Employees are entitled to 30 days of paid leave per year, plus an additional two weeks of annual closure. Comprehensive health insurance coverage is provided for employees and their families, along with monthly allowances for family, child, and infant care based on individual circumstances. A relocation package is also available, depending on individual circumstances.
