Job Overview: The Communication Associate position at UNFPA Timor-Leste is pivotal in supporting the country office's advocacy and communications efforts. This role involves planning and implementing strategies to enhance visibility and communication both internally and externally. The Communication Associate will be responsible for producing a variety of communication materials, including articles, press releases, social media content, and multimedia products such as videos and graphic designs. Duties and Responsibilities: The Communication Associate will undertake a variety of duties, including:
Supporting the development and implementation of the country office's communications and advocacy strategy, ensuring alignment with UNFPA's brand standards.
Coordinating communications inputs for high-level visits and advocacy events, providing guidance to the program team on messaging.
Drafting, editing, and producing communications materials across various formats, including press releases, articles, brochures, and multimedia products.
Collaborating with the program team to create human interest stories that highlight program impacts.
Managing and updating the country office's social media channels and web presence, monitoring performance analytics, and compiling media coverage summaries.
Supporting the design and delivery of advocacy campaigns and coordinating visibility efforts with UN agencies and government partners.
Maintaining documentation of communications activities and lessons learned, and providing guidance to service providers involved in communications.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a completed secondary level education, with a first-level university degree in communications or a related field being desirable. A minimum of six years of relevant professional experience in communication, advocacy, and partnership at the national level is required, including experience in public relations and media relations. Proficiency in current office software applications and corporate IT systems is essential, along with good knowledge of web-based management systems. Familiarity with population issues, sexual and reproductive health, and gender-based violence is considered an asset. Previous experience with a multilateral or international organization is also advantageous.
Educational Background: The position requires at least a completed secondary level education, with a first-level university degree in communications or a related field being highly desirable.
