Job Overview:
The Assistant(e) Technique WASH plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation of WASH activities. This position involves providing technical assistance, managing resources, and sharing technical knowledge to ensure the effective execution of projects. The individual will be responsible for adhering to organizational policies and guidelines while assisting in the implementation of the WASH program portfolio according to the action plan. The role requires independent execution of procedures and activities within the scope of their competencies, ensuring that tasks are organized and executed according to priorities and standards. The Assistant(e) will also develop and maintain specialized knowledge in the field to enhance the support provided to the team, demonstrating initiative in problem-solving and preparing reports as required by management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Assistant(e) Technique WASH include ensuring adherence to NRC policies, tools, manuals, and guidelines. The individual will assist in implementing the WASH program portfolio in line with the action plan and independently execute procedures and activities relevant to their role. They will be responsible for organizing and executing tasks according to established priorities and standards. The Assistant(e) will develop and maintain specialized knowledge in the field to effectively support the team, demonstrate initiative in daily problem-solving, prepare and develop reports as required, and ensure proper document filing. Additionally, they will create technical drawings, quantitative and estimated quotes for construction/rehabilitation work, and facilitate, supervise, and organize construction/rehabilitation work for identified WASH infrastructures. The role also involves supporting the capacity building of skilled and unskilled workers and local populations, conducting physicochemical and bacteriological analyses of constructed/rehabilitated water facilities, collecting and sharing weekly evidence and verification sources for WASH installations, and monitoring the procurement process for goods and services related to hard WASH activities.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a minimum of a degree in engineering (equivalent to BAC+3) in civil engineering, rural engineering, hydraulics, public works, or a similar field. Candidates should possess in-depth knowledge of the humanitarian context of the assigned territories and health zones, as well as familiarity with standards such as SPHERE. Proven knowledge in water quality and treatment is essential, along with experience in participatory methodologies for working with communities in construction projects and team management. Proficiency in technical drawing software (AutoCAD, Sketchup, ArchiCAD, etc.) and calculation tools (Epanet, Robot SA, etc.) is required, as well as strong skills in office software, particularly Excel and Word. Good planning and activity monitoring capabilities are necessary, and knowledge of mapping and GIS software such as QGIS is desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold at least a degree in engineering, specifically in civil engineering, rural engineering, hydraulics, public works, or a related field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the technical aspects of WASH projects and ensuring effective implementation.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have relevant experience in the field of WASH, particularly in humanitarian contexts. Experience in participatory methodologies for community engagement in construction projects and team management is essential. Candidates should also have a proven track record of working with communities and managing technical aspects of WASH projects.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in the region. Knowledge of English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international stakeholders and enhance collaboration on projects.
