Job Overview:
The Partnership Intern position at NRC Nigeria is designed for individuals who are enthusiastic about humanitarian work and eager to learn about partnership management. The intern will play a crucial role in supporting the Partnerships unit by assisting in the coordination and management of NRC’s relationships with local implementing partners. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain insights into donor compliance, humanitarian programming, and the operational aspects of partnership management within a reputable NGO. The intern will be involved in various tasks that contribute to the effective functioning of partnerships, ensuring that both NRC and its partners can work collaboratively towards common goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
  • Partner Liaison and Coordination: Supporting communication between NRC and its implementing partners, organizing partner meetings, selection processes, and workshops, taking meeting notes, and ensuring follow-up on action points.
  • Documentation and Filing: Maintaining proper filing and archiving of partnership documents, updating partnership trackers, templates, and databases, ensuring documents are organized and accessible, and collecting required documents from partners.
  • Compliance and Reporting Support: Tracking partner reporting deadlines, reviewing partner reports for completeness, ensuring timely submission of required documents, and compiling simple summaries or internal reports.
  • Programme and Coordination Support: Coordinating with Programme and Finance teams on partner activities, tracking implementation progress, and providing administrative support for sub-grant processes.
  • Capacity Building Support: Organizing partner trainings and workshops, preparing training materials, arranging logistics, providing support during trainings, and documenting training outputs and feedback.
  • Partnership Processes: Assisting with partner selection processes, conducting basic partner assessments, reviewing partner budgets for completeness, and improving partnership tools and templates.
  • Other Duties: Performing any additional tasks assigned by the Partnerships Manager or Officer.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a relevant University Degree or higher education, preferably in international relations, development studies, social sciences, or project management. They should have 0-2 years of relevant experience in the field, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills. The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines is essential, along with a genuine interest in working in the NGO sector and contributing to humanitarian causes. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a relevant University Degree or higher education in fields such as international relations, development studies, social sciences, or project management. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of partnership management and humanitarian programming.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have 0-2 years of relevant experience within the field. This experience can include internships, volunteer work, or any other relevant roles that provide exposure to partnership management, donor compliance, or humanitarian programming. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow within the NGO sector.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English, with excellent written and oral communication skills required. Proficiency in English is essential for effective communication with partners and stakeholders. Additional languages may be considered an asset but are not specified as mandatory.

This internship is based in Abuja, Nigeria, and has a duration of 6 months, from July 2026 to December 2026, with the possibility of renewal. The position is classified at NRC Grade 2 and reports to the Partnership Coordinator. It is important to note that this position is open to Nigerian nationals only.
