Job Overview: The Country Representative (CR) for PSI Nigeria is a pivotal leadership role that requires an experienced, visionary, and strategic individual. The CR will lead PSI Nigeria into its next chapter of transformative impact, navigating high-level representation, strategic program leadership, technical stewardship, and people management. This role is crucial for anchoring PSI Nigeria within the evolving health landscape of the country, positioning it as a key partner for government, donors, and the private sector. The CR will ensure alignment with Nigeria's national health priorities and PSI's global strategy, while also championing the expansion of a diversified funding portfolio through relationship building and resource mobilization efforts. The CR will report to the Regional Representative for East and Southern Africa and work closely with PSI's global support teams.
Duties and Responsibilities: The CR will be responsible for a variety of duties, including but not limited to: proactively cultivating and securing funding opportunities that align with PSI Nigeria's strategic vision; identifying and pursuing new opportunities across various funding sources; building and maintaining relationships with institutional donors, foundations, UN agencies, and government stakeholders; overseeing the development of high-quality proposals; providing visionary leadership to steer PSI Nigeria's direction; ensuring compliance with financial and program quality standards; performing risk assessments; overseeing program budgets and financial controls; developing administrative policies; promoting an ethical work environment; and ensuring the safety and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security of staff and assets. The CR will also embody PSI's core values of Measurement, Pragmatism, Honesty, Trust, Collaboration, and Commitment, and may require international travel.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree (or international equivalent) in a related field, with a Master's Degree (or international equivalent) preferred. A minimum of 10 years of senior-level leadership experience in public health or development programs, particularly in Nigeria or similar contexts, is required. Additionally, candidates should have at least 5 years of supervisory experience, demonstrated work experience in similar operating environments, and a proven ability to navigate political and donor landscapes. Strong fundraising skills and experience managing complex donor portfolios are essential, as well as fluency in English with excellent writing skills. Foreign language skills may be required depending on the location.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, with a preference for candidates holding a Master's Degree in areas such as Business Administration (MBA), Public Administration (MPA), or Public Health (MPH).
Experience: The position requires at least 10 years of senior-level leadership experience in public health or development programs, with a strong emphasis on experience within Nigeria or similar contexts. Candidates should also have a minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience, showcasing their ability to lead teams effectively and manage complex projects.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent writing skills. Depending on the location, additional foreign language skills may be beneficial and are considered a plus.
Additional Notes: This position is only open to Nigerian candidates or those with the legal right to live and work in Nigeria. The role is based in Abuja, Nigeria, and involves on-site work.
