The OSCE Programme Office in Astana specifically focuses on assisting Kazakhstan in addressing security challenges in line with the country's priorities and the OSCE's commitments.

Job Overview:
The OSCE Programme Office in Astana is seeking qualified candidates for internships lasting between 2 to 6 months in both administrative and programmatic areas. Interns will gain insight into the daily operations of the OSCE and its mandate, develop professional skills, and acquire practical experience in a multinational environment. This internship offers opportunities for networking with professionals and engaging in meaningful work that contributes to the OSCE's mission. Interns will be involved in various tasks that support the office's objectives and will be expected to work full-time, with specific start dates determined by the needs of the hiring offices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will contribute to drafting research papers, policy reports, and other written materials such as briefing papers and presentations. They will assist in project management, including preparing project proposals and budgets, and compiling progress reports for donors. Interns will conduct thematic research, assist with legal document revisions, media monitoring, and financial analyses. They will support communication-related events, update websites, create content for social media, and help organize meetings, workshops, and conferences. Additionally, interns will attend OSCE meetings, take minutes, draft official records, and support daily operational work in administrative departments such as human resources and financial services. They will also assist senior managers with trip preparations and liaising with various stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be no older than 30 years by the application deadline and should have completed at least two years of full-time post-secondary education or graduated within two years prior to December 31, 202
  • Proficiency in English and Russian, both written and oral, is required, while knowledge of Kazakh is an asset. Candidates should demonstrate high motivation, open-mindedness, and flexibility, and be able to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is essential, and desirable skills include organizational, multi-tasking, and analytical abilities, as well as drafting skills.

Experience:

Languages:
Fluency in English and Russian is mandatory, both in written and oral forms. Knowledge of the Kazakh language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with local contexts and stakeholders effectively.

Additional Notes:
The internship is a full-time position, requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week. It lasts between 2 to 6 months, and there is no guarantee of future employment with the OSCE following the internship. Interns will not receive remuneration or travel expense reimbursement; however, the OSCE may contribute towards the cost of living for non-resident interns. Health insurance is the responsibility of the intern unless they are enrolled in the OSCE's group health insurance scheme.
