Job Overview: The Analyst position at the EBRD Resident Office in Astana is a critical role that supports the Bank’s infrastructure operations in Kazakhstan and the broader Central Asian region. The Analyst will be involved in all phases of the project cycle, which includes project origination, structuring, execution, implementation, and monitoring. This role requires the Analyst to take on responsibilities assigned by the operation leader or senior project team members, which may involve conducting comprehensive due diligence, ensuring compliance with EBRD policies, and facilitating effective post-signing implementation and monitoring. The Analyst will work closely with project teams, contributing to the structuring, implementation, and monitoring of debt and equity transactions, while focusing on research, data gathering, credit analysis, and financial modeling. The position is designed to allow the Analyst to progressively undertake more complex tasks and build their scope of responsibilities based on acquired experience and expertise.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Analyst will be responsible for a variety of tasks under the guidance of the operation leader or a more senior banker. Key duties include:
Structuring and Execution: Collaborating as a project team member on transactions, conducting comprehensive research and analysis of background materials, market information, and financial performance data; analyzing potential risks related to proposed projects, including financial statement analysis and financial modeling; assisting in the design and processing of technical cooperation assistance; and ensuring timely completion of all assigned tasks to a high quality.
Portfolio Monitoring, Value Creation, and Reporting: Undertaking tasks related to project implementation and monitoring, ensuring compliance with project agreements and Bank procedures; preparing draft monitoring reports with recommendations for corrective actions; and assisting with the effective implementation and monitoring of technical cooperation assignments. The Analyst's responsibilities are structured to allow for progressive complexity and increased scope based on experience.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in relevant fields. Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are desirable. Critical quantitative and numerical skills are essential, along with the ability to interpret financial information and design financial models. Candidates should have credit analysis skills, a good understanding of local and international accounting principles, and be computer literate, particularly in Microsoft Office and spreadsheet applications. Effective teamwork, communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure are also required.
Educational Background: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred, indicating a higher level of expertise and understanding of complex financial concepts. Relevant professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are considered advantageous and demonstrate a commitment to professional development in the financial sector.
