Job Overview:
The position involves translating communication training materials for UNV's capacity building initiatives, specifically aimed at enhancing the skills of UN Volunteers. The role requires a native-level proficiency in Brazilian Portuguese to ensure that the translations are linguistically accurate, clear, and natural. The materials to be translated include presentations, facilitators' guides, and activity handouts, which are essential for the Effective Communication workshop organized by UNV Brazil. This workshop is designed to equip volunteers with strong communication skills, enabling them to convey messages clearly and professionally, adapt to diverse cultural communication styles, and engage effectively in public speaking. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that the training materials are of high quality and accessible to Portuguese-speaking volunteers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Translate communication training materials from English to Brazilian Portuguese, ensuring linguistic accuracy and clarity.
• Review and edit translations to maintain high quality standards and natural phrasing.
• Collaborate with the UNV team to understand the context and objectives of the training materials.
• Ensure that the translated materials are culturally appropriate and resonate with the target audience.
• Provide feedback on the original materials to improve clarity and effectiveness.
• Meet deadlines for translation tasks while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
• Participate in meetings and discussions related to the translation process and provide insights based on linguistic expertise.

Required Qualifications:

• Native-level proficiency in Brazilian Portuguese.
• Strong command of English, with the ability to understand and translate complex concepts.
• Experience in translation, particularly in educational or training materials.
• Excellent writing skills in Portuguese, with a focus on clarity and professionalism.
• Familiarity with communication and training concepts is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.

Educational Background:
A degree in Translation, Linguistics, Communication, or a related field is preferred. Additional certifications in translation or language proficiency may be beneficial.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in translation, particularly in the context of educational or training materials. Experience working with international organizations or in volunteer settings is a plus. A demonstrated ability to produce high-quality translations under tight deadlines is essential.

Languages:
Mandatory: Native-level Brazilian Portuguese; Good to have: Proficiency in English is essential for understanding the source materials and ensuring accurate translations.
