Job Overview:
The position of Graphic Designer is integral to the UNV and Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) collaborative initiative aimed at commemorating the International Year of Volunteers (IVY) in Malawi. This campaign, which runs from June to November 2026, seeks to elevate the significance of volunteerism in achieving national development goals. The Graphic Designers will play a crucial role in crafting visually compelling materials that communicate the campaign's themes, including volunteer wellbeing and inclusive volunteer management. The designers will work closely with the Lead IVY Advocacy Campaign Coordinator to ensure that all visual assets are not only appealing but also aligned with the overarching goals of the campaign and the branding guidelines of both UNV and VSO.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Graphic Designers will be tasked with creating a variety of visual assets for the IVY Malawi campaign. Their responsibilities will include:
  • Designing standardized templates for webinars, including PowerPoint presentations that are visually engaging and informative.
  • Creating social media card templates tailored for platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and X/Twitter, ensuring that they are eye-catching and effectively convey the campaign's messages.
  • Developing quote card templates that highlight key speakers and important messages from the campaign.
  • Producing promotional posters for eight distinct webinar events scheduled between July and October 2026, ensuring that each poster captures the essence of the event and encourages participation.
  • Adhering to UNV and VSO branding guidelines throughout the design process, maintaining consistency and professionalism in all materials.
  • Adapting designs for various digital platforms and formats, ensuring that they are optimized for each medium.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Graphic Designer position should possess a strong background in graphic design, with proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). They should have a keen eye for aesthetics and detail, as well as the ability to create visually appealing and effective designs that resonate with diverse audiences. Experience in creating templates and promotional materials for social media and webinars is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate creativity, adaptability, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Educational Background:
A degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field is required for this position. Candidates should have a solid foundation in design principles and practices, as well as a portfolio showcasing their previous work in graphic design, particularly in the context of social media and promotional materials.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 2-3 years of professional experience in graphic design, with a proven track record of creating engaging visual content for campaigns or projects. Experience working with non-profit organizations or in volunteerism-related initiatives is a plus, as it demonstrates an understanding of the values and objectives of the UNV and VSO.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, as all communications and materials will be developed in this language. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly local languages spoken in Malawi, would be considered an asset, as it may enhance the effectiveness of the campaign's outreach efforts.
