Job Overview: The Audio/Visual Technician position is critical in supporting the operational needs of WHO meetings and conferences, both internally and externally. The role involves providing comprehensive audio, video, and webcasting services, ensuring that all technical aspects of meetings are executed flawlessly. The technician will be responsible for the planning, organization, and implementation of AV services, managing equipment, and liaising with various stakeholders to enhance conferencing services. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt to various technical challenges that may arise during events. The technician will also play a key role in training staff on the use of AV systems and ensuring that all equipment is maintained and operational for high-level meetings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, and implement audio/video/webcasting services for meetings and conferences, ensuring all technical requirements are met.
Manage the operation of AV and interpretation systems, including cameras, microphones, amplifiers, and presentation screens.
Conduct preventive maintenance and regular checks on equipment, coordinating repairs with AV companies as necessary.
Program and operate AV systems, including webcasting and videoconferencing, providing immediate solutions to technical issues.
Record key meetings and events, ensuring proper dissemination of materials as required.
Rearrange conference halls and meeting rooms to meet specific technical and physical requirements.
Liaise with UN City staff to anticipate and improve service delivery, participating in preparatory meetings and providing technical drawings as needed.
Serve as a dedicated resource for WHO key meetings, ensuring all equipment is operational and providing AV support during events, including travel to external locations as required.
Required Qualifications: Essential qualifications include completion of secondary school or equivalent, with a strong emphasis on practical experience in audio-visual systems. Candidates should possess demonstrated skills in webcasting technology, videoconferencing, and audio-visual digital editing. Desirable qualifications include training in AV systems installation and maintenance, as well as relevant experience working with WHO or UN agencies. Candidates should also have experience in coordinating external contractors and technicians for events.
Educational Background: The position requires at least a secondary school education or equivalent. Additional training in audio-visual systems installation, operation, and maintenance is highly desirable, as it equips candidates with the necessary technical skills to perform effectively in this role.
Experience: Candidates must have a minimum of five years of experience operating video/audio/webcasting equipment in support of meetings and conferences. Experience in coordinating with external contractors and technicians is essential. Desirable experience includes working with WHO or other UN agencies and supporting international conferences in various locations, which provides a broader understanding of the operational needs in diverse settings.
Languages: The position requires excellent knowledge of English, which is essential for communication and technical documentation. Desirable language skills include working knowledge of French, Russian, or Danish, which can enhance communication with diverse stakeholders and participants in meetings.
Additional Notes: The position offers an attractive remuneration package, including an annual net base salary starting at DKK 368,765, along with 30 days of annual leave.
