Job Overview:
The Web and Social Media Editor (French) will play a crucial role in managing UNDP's corporate website and social media presence in French. This position is part of the Digital Communications Studio within the Bureau of External Relations and Advocacy (BERA). The incumbent will be responsible for creating, editing, and producing content in French for UNDP's global public website and social media channels, ensuring that the content aligns with the organization's communication strategies and goals. The role requires collaboration with various teams to develop social media strategies aimed at engaging a French-speaking audience and evaluating the effectiveness of these strategies through analytics. Additionally, the editor will conduct maintenance and quality assurance of the corporate website, ensuring that the information is current and user-friendly. The position also involves facilitating knowledge sharing and documenting best practices from projects and partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage UNDP’s global social media channels (Twitter and Facebook) in French, working closely with the Social Media Specialist to determine goals for reach and engagement. Plan and implement social media strategies for global communication projects and campaigns, and evaluate effectiveness through reporting and analytics.
  • Create, edit, and produce content in French for the global public website and other digital platforms. Collaborate with the Web Copywriting Specialist and communication focal points to curate French content based on the editorial calendar. Review and edit web stories, headlines, video scripts, and photo captions in French, ensuring consistency across languages. Translate or review translations from English into French, proofreading and reformulating as necessary for optimal web presentation. Work with production specialists to research and select visual assets for multimedia stories and publish content on the French global website using the corporate digital experience platform.
  • Conduct maintenance and quality assurance of the corporate website by continuously monitoring for outdated information and user experience shortcomings. Correct errors and suggest improvements to enhance the website's functionality and user experience.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing by identifying, synthesizing, and documenting best practices and lessons learned from projects and implementing partners. Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office and the organization related to UNDP’s digital communications ecosystem.

Required Qualifications:
  • Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Communications, Journalism, Social Science, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the mentioned areas combined with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be considered in lieu of the advanced degree.
  • Applicants with a master’s degree are not required to have professional work experience, while those with a bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of two years of work experience in digital communications, media, marketing, journalism, or a related field.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Communications, Journalism, Social Science, or a related field. A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the same areas, combined with two years of relevant experience, is also acceptable.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant work experience for candidates with a bachelor’s degree. Those with a master’s degree are not required to have prior professional experience. Relevant experience includes work in digital communications, media, marketing, journalism, or similar fields. Desired skills include experience in creating content for social media platforms, managing accounts, and working with content management systems, particularly within the United Nations System or similar organizations.

Languages:
Fluency in French and English is required for this position. Knowledge of Spanish is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's profile for this role.
