Job Overview:
The Employment Specialist plays a crucial role in managing services aimed at helping newly arrived refugee clients achieve self-sufficiency through employment. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including employer and market development, conducting employment searches, preparing clients and employers for job placements, enhancing career opportunities, providing job training and assessments, and assisting clients with enrollment in Arizona Unemployment Insurance benefits. The Employment Specialist is also responsible for maintaining accurate data collection for employment services and reporting on program deliverables, ensuring that the IRC meets its objectives in supporting refugee clients effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Employment Specialist's duties include, but are not limited to: conducting intake assessments and pre-employment/job readiness orientations for clients eligible for employment services; developing comprehensive employment plans tailored to each employable adult; providing both group and individual job readiness orientations to equip clients with essential skills for enhancing their employability; establishing and nurturing long-term relationships with local employers to identify suitable job opportunities for clients; guiding clients through the hiring process to access specific employment opportunities; monitoring job performance, wage levels, and satisfaction for both employers and employees; assisting clients and employers with post-placement issues and ongoing employment needs; helping clients apply for Unemployment Insurance benefits and file weekly claims; ensuring compliance with all reporting requirements in a timely and accurate manner; participating in program meetings and staff development activities; and adhering to all agency policies, procedures, and protocols. Additional related duties may be assigned as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have at least two years of relevant experience in case management, employment, job placement, or business. They should demonstrate familiarity with the US job search process and possess the ability to effectively coach clients through the complexities of securing employment. Knowledge of the Tucson job market is strongly preferred. Excellent communication skills are essential, with fluency in both written and spoken English required. Bilingual ability in one of the predominant languages of the local client base is highly desired. Candidates should also exhibit a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, be self-starters with strong problem-solving skills, and possess the capability to multitask, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and strong keyboarding, internet usage, and research skills are necessary. A valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area are also required. Candidates must have or be eligible to obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card.
