Job Overview:
The Shelter/WaSH Technical Officer is responsible for providing technical support in the assessment, planning, designing, and supervising of projects related to shelter and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WaSH). Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the Shelter/WaSH Technical Officer include conducting structural assessments of buildings and WaSH facilities, proposing technical solutions for materials and equipment, and developing work plans and technical specifications. The officer will review contract claims, assess the completion of works, and prepare recommendations for payments. Additionally, the role involves providing technical support to contractors, supervising construction works, and ensuring compliance with national guidelines. Candidates must possess a technical degree in architecture or engineering, with expertise in civil, structural, electro-mechanical, hydrogeology, environmental, energy, or related fields. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a humanitarian or recovery context is required, with a strong background in construction norms and standards. Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and AutoCAD is essential, along with excellent time management and organizational skills. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work autonomously and prioritize complex workloads effectively.

Educational Background:
The position requires a technical degree in a relevant field such as civil engineering, architecture, or related disciplines. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of construction and engineering projects in humanitarian contexts.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of experience working in a Shelter function within humanitarian or recovery contexts. Experience in complex and volatile environments is highly desirable, as it equips candidates with the necessary skills to navigate challenging situations effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in both written and spoken English and Ukrainian is mandatory for this position. Good communication skills in these languages are essential for effective collaboration with local authorities, communities, and project stakeholders.
