Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
The organization is the largest nonprofit dedicated to combating poverty, disease, and inequity globally. Founded on the principle that all individuals, regardless of their identity or circumstances, deserve the opportunity to lead healthy and productive lives, the foundation emphasizes diversity within its workforce to reflect the populations it serves. It offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage without premiums, generous paid time off, paid family leave, retirement contributions, regional holidays, and opportunities for employees to engage in various community initiatives. The foundation is committed to fostering an environment that supports both personal and professional growth for its employees.

Job Overview:
The Portfolio and Platform Lead will be instrumental in overseeing the lifecycle of AI projects within the Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCNH) sector. This role involves bridging the gap between product development and operational implementation, ensuring that AI initiatives are both technically sound and scalable across various maternal and child health programs. The individual will manage a portfolio that includes grants and investments, ensuring that projects progress efficiently through development, adoption, and scaling phases. The position requires collaboration with internal technical leads, country teams, grantees, and external partners to optimize resources and maximize impact on maternal and child health outcomes. The role is critical in aligning AI strategies with organizational goals and ensuring that the initiatives reflect the needs of low-resource settings.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Portfolio and Platform Lead will be responsible for managing AI projects and supporting grants/contracts from concept through to scale. This includes building frameworks to track timelines, budgets, milestones, and grant performance, as well as assessing project readiness at each stage to inform follow-on investment decisions. The individual will identify and address product bottlenecks across the portfolio and ensure alignment with the MNCNH Clinical Decision Support and Patient Self-Care AI Strategy. Additionally, the role involves working with Program Officers to design new grants and contracts, serving as a technical thought partner to grantees, and embedding human-centered design principles into product development. The Lead will also coordinate stakeholder engagement, develop AI product introduction strategies, and identify high-potential AI initiatives to guide them through the maturity pipeline. Furthermore, the role includes defining integration standards for health information systems and maintaining an integration landscape map to track product embedding in clinical workflows.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences, or an equivalent field. They should have at least 8 years of experience managing AI, digital, or technology product portfolios, ideally in a commercial setting, with a proven track record in managing grants, contracts, or similar investment vehicles. A strong understanding of AI product development, evaluation, and adoption is essential, along with experience in structuring and managing AI projects and cross-functional teams. The ability to engage with various stakeholders, including governments and donors, is crucial, as is having strong analytical skills to assess project performance and resource allocation.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree in a relevant field such as biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences is required. This educational background should provide a solid foundation in the principles and practices relevant to managing AI and technology product portfolios, particularly in the context of maternal and child health.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, particularly in managing AI, digital, or technology product portfolios. Experience in a commercial setting is preferred, along with demonstrated success in managing grants, contracts, or comparable investment vehicles. Familiarity with the challenges of scaling AI and digital health solutions in maternal and child health programs in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) is strongly preferred.

Languages:
While the job description does not specify mandatory languages, proficiency in English is likely essential given the international scope of the organization. Additional languages relevant to the regions served, particularly in Africa and South Asia, would be advantageous but not explicitly required.

Additional Notes:
This position is a limited-term role for 36 months, and relocation will be provided for the successful candidate. The salary range for this role is between $233,600.00 and $362,200.00 USD, with specific adjustments for high-wage markets such as Seattle and Washington D.C., where the range is between $254,700.00 and $394,700.00 USD. The organization emphasizes a mission-driven approach to compensation, balancing competitive pay with its overarching mission. New hires typically fall within the range minimum and midpoint, with actual placement depending on the candidate's skills, experience, and expertise as evaluated during the interview process. The foundation does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role, and candidates must have unrestricted work authorization in the country where the position is located.
