Job Overview: The coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Grants Coordinator plays a key role in developing and monitoring the partnership and financial strategy of the mission. This position involves inter-departmental coordination and providing strategic support on donor relations, contract cycle management, implementation partnerships, external compliance, and accountability to donors. The Grants Coordinator is also responsible for drafting project proposals in collaboration with the Deputy CountryDirector for Programs. The role is critical in ensuring that the mission's objectives are met while navigating the complexities of funding and partnerships in a challenging environment. The position requires a proactive approach to managing limited human resources while addressing the strategic interests of donors, particularly in newly opened operational bases. The Grants Coordinator will also engage in advocacy with donors to increase budget allocations for support functions and ensure high-quality project documentation.
Duties and Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of the Grants Coordinator include:
Developing and implementing the partnership and financial strategy for the mission.
Coordinating inter-departmental efforts to ensure alignment on donor relations and compliance.
Supporting the mission in managing the contract cycle and partnerships for effective implementation.
Drafting high-quality project proposals and reports in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
Engaging with donors to advocate for increased funding and support for mission activities.
Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of partnerships and ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
Leading the preparation for the 'proposal season' and actively participating in the development of the overall strategy for the mission.
Ensuring that all project documentation is harmonized, precise, and of high quality.
Addressing security concerns and ensuring the safety of staff during field missions. 1
Collaborating with national partners on contractual aspects of partnerships.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree (bachelor's or master's) and/or a postgraduate diploma in project management, international development, humanitarian studies, or a related field. Alternatively, equivalent professional experience in grant management within the humanitarian sector is acceptable. A minimum of one year of experience in a similar role is required. Candidates should demonstrate excellent internal and external communication skills and experience with Solidarités International is considered an asset. Technical skills required include strong writing abilities, familiarity with donor rules and procedures, and the capacity for autonomy, rigor, and initiative. Candidates should also possess organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and the capability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in a relevant field such as project management, international development, humanitarian studies, or a related discipline. A postgraduate diploma or equivalent professional experience in grant management within the humanitarian sector is also acceptable. Candidates should have a solid understanding of the principles and practices of humanitarian aid and development.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of one year of relevant experience in a similar role, particularly in grant management within the humanitarian sector. Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and the region. The role is based in Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo, which is categorized as a level 4 security zone, indicating a volatile operational environment. The salary for this position starts at EUR 2860 gross per month, which includes a base salary and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Solidarités International covers housing costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's home country and the duty station. During the mission, a work and leave system is implemented, allowing for breaks every three months, with additional rest days accrued. Expatriates are provided with comprehensive health insurance covering medical expenses, including vaccinations and necessary treatments. Living conditions include accommodation with private rooms and bathrooms, access to varied and quality food, and opportunities for recreational activities.
