Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is primarily focused on supporting the visibility and communication of the Protection Division's activities. The intern will contribute to identifying and mobilizing funding sources, assist in drafting content for internal and external communication, and provide operational support to the Protection Unit. The intern will work under the supervision of a Protection Specialist and may interact with other specialists in health, inclusion, and education. The role is designed to enhance the intern's skills in communication and operational support while contributing to meaningful projects aimed at protecting vulnerable populations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks including:
Communication: Writing, proofreading, and editing content in both French and English; translating and revising documents; ensuring accessibility of written content; contributing to the production of accessible written, audio, and video communication materials; assisting in the capitalization of the iD4C (Inclusive Dance 4 Changes) approach; updating, organizing, and classifying existing communication tools; and supporting the coverage of internal events such as HI TALK and training sessions.
Operational Support: Contributing to the drafting of capacity statements; assisting in the writing of concept notes and project proposals; participating in team meetings and producing minutes as necessary; supporting the organization of internal events led by the division; and contributing to other missions of the Protection Unit as needed by team members.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should be preparing for a Master's degree or equivalent in Communication, Social Sciences (Sociology or Gender Studies), Law (International Law, Human Rights), International Relations or Development, or Humanitarian Project Management. If you are undergoing professional retraining or have a lower academic qualification (certificate or bachelor's degree) but possess significant work experience related to the themes, your application may be considered (if a convention with Pole Emploi is possible). Knowledge of general principles regarding protection issues, particularly gender-based violence (GBV), child protection (CP), human rights, gender equality, and disability inclusion is essential.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Communication, Social Sciences, Law, International Relations, or Development. Candidates with significant work experience in related areas may also be considered, even if they do not meet the formal educational requirements, provided they can secure a convention with Pole Emploi.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a background in communication and social sciences, with a strong understanding of protection issues. Experience in writing, editing, and producing communication materials is essential. Candidates should also have experience working in multicultural environments and dealing with sensitive topics.
Languages: Mandatory languages include French and English, both written and spoken. Additional languages that are considered an asset include Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese, Kiswahili, Luganda, or Lingala. The intern will receive a monthly stipend of €693, meal vouchers valued at €8.96 (with 60% covered by the employer), and a 50% contribution to transportation costs.
