Job Overview:
The Driver position at ILO-Ankara is crucial for providing reliable and safe transportation services to the Office Director and other officials. The incumbent is expected to uphold the highest standards of discretion and integrity while ensuring the smooth operation of transportation logistics. This role involves not only driving but also arranging airport VIP services and customs clearances for high-level delegations. The driver must be adaptable, capable of managing multiple tasks, and responsive to changing priorities. The position requires a proactive approach to planning and organizing workload to meet various support needs effectively. The driver will work under the supervision of the Director of ILO-Ankara, with a degree of operational independence in executing assignments, while receiving guidance on procedural matters.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Driver include:
  • Providing safe and reliable driving services for the Office Director and other authorized personnel.
  • Meeting officials and visitors at the airport, assisting with protocol, visa, and customs formalities as necessary.
  • Delivering and collecting mail, documents, and other items as required.
  • Ensuring cost-effective use of the vehicle and maintaining accurate daily vehicle logs.
  • Preparing vehicle maintenance plans and documentation, ensuring timely minor repairs, and arranging for major repairs when necessary.
  • Keeping the assigned vehicle clean and in good running condition through regular maintenance checks, including oil changes, tire checks, and cleaning.
  • Ensuring all required documents and supplies are available in the vehicle, including insurance, registration, and first aid kits.
  • Scheduling drivers and vehicles for daily use when appropriate.
  • Informing the supervisor about vehicle registrations and insurance procedures in a timely manner. 1
  • Assisting office staff with filing, photocopying, and maintaining stores. 1
  • Assisting in the mailing, collection, and distribution of documents and publications. 1
  • Arranging payment for office bills and performing data entry duties as needed. 1
  • Performing other relevant duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires the following qualifications:
  • Completion of secondary school education.
  • A valid and clean driving license is mandatory.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant work experience with a proven safe driving record.
  • Previous driving experience with a UN agency, diplomatic, or international organization is highly desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of local driving rules and regulations, as well as local roads and conditions.
  • Skills in minor vehicle repair and maintenance are essential.
  • Familiarity with chauffeur protocol and courtesies, as well as security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security issues related to transportation.
  • Knowledge of administrative rules and regulations concerning vehicle management is required.
  • Basic computer skills for recording information in IT systems are necessary.

Educational Background:

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of three years of relevant work experience, specifically in driving roles. A safe driving record is crucial, and experience driving for a UN agency, diplomatic, or international organization is preferred. Languages:
