Job Overview: The Driver position at UN Women involves providing reliable and safe driving services to the UN Women director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director/Head of Office, high-ranking UN officials, and visitors. The Driver will also be responsible for transporting UN Women personnel, delivering documents, and ensuring the safety and maintenance of the assigned vehicle. The Driver must demonstrate a client-oriented approach, courtesy, and the ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide reliable and secure driving services, including transporting the UN Women Country Director, high-ranking officials, and visitors, as well as facilitating VIP missions.
Deliver and collect mail, documents, and other items to various offices and establishments.
Meet official personnel and visitors at the airport, assisting with visa and customs formalities when required.
Ensure all passengers wear seatbelts and adhere to safety regulations.
Take immediate actions required by rules and regulations in case of accidents.
Maintain daily vehicle logs, including mileage, gas consumption, and servicing records.
Ensure all official vehicles are clean, well-maintained, and in good working condition.
Make minor repairs and arrange for major repairs as needed.
Maintain all required documents and supplies in the vehicle, including insurance and first aid kits. 1
Provide general administrative and logistic support, including assisting with filing, photocopying, and mailing. 1
Organize shipments and customs clearance arrangements as necessary. 1
Perform other duties as required for the efficient functioning of the office.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of secondary education is required.
A valid driver’s license is mandatory.
At least 3 years of relevant experience as a driver in an internationally recognized organization, embassy, or UN system with a safe driving record is required.
Skills in minor vehicle repairs are desirable.
Good knowledge of office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) is also desirable.
Strong knowledge of driving rules, regulations, and local roads is essential.
Excellent driving skills and defensive driving skills are required.
Ability to be punctual and reliable in all driving duties.
Educational Background: The position requires the completion of secondary education, which provides the foundational knowledge necessary for the role. Additionally, a valid driver’s license is essential to ensure compliance with legal driving requirements and to perform the duties of the position effectively.
Experience: Candidates must have at least 3 years of relevant experience as a driver, preferably in an internationally recognized company, organization, or within the UN system. This experience should include a demonstrated safe driving record and familiarity with the responsibilities associated with driving high-ranking officials and managing vehicle maintenance.
Languages: Working knowledge of English is required for this position, as it is essential for communication within the UN system. Fluency in Turkish is also required, given the local context of the role. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered desirable and may enhance a candidate's profile.
