Job Overview: The Program Officer position at FHI 360 is focused on supporting the United States Government (USG)-funded Global Healthsecurity" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security project, specifically the laboratory and diagnostic components of the Strengthening Infectious Disease Detection Systems (STRIDES) Activity in Liberia. The role involves providing essential administrative assistance and program management functions to ensure that project activities are executed efficiently, remain on schedule, and adhere to budget constraints. The Program Officer will be responsible for collecting, compiling, and analyzing information pertinent to project activities, as well as contributing to project-related communication and coordination. This position requires a proactive approach to support compliance-related documentation, tracking deliverables, and coordinating with the technical team to prepare requisitions and fulfill other project objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Program Officer will undertake a variety of duties, including but not limited to: collaborating with the project management team to ensure project needs are met; providing administrative support such as planning meetings, arranging conference room setups, and managing travel requests; tracking and organizing necessary documentation for procurement; collecting existing metrics and data for reporting purposes; maintaining project calendars and distribution lists; assisting in the management of electronic and physical project files; sending reminders to the team regarding reporting deadlines and technical deliverables; and fulfilling other administrative duties as assigned. Additionally, the Program Officer will assist with budget coordination, compile cost information relevant to the STRIDES project, and serve as a liaison to internal units such as finance and contracts.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Program Officer position should possess a basic understanding of project design concepts, practices, and procedures. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, along with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software. The ability to solve problems and recommend corrective actions is crucial, as is a strong attention to detail and organizational skills to meet project deadlines. Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree or its international equivalent in fields such as Civil Society, Communication and Social Marketing, Law, Economic Development, Education, The Environment, Gender, Health, Research, Technology, Youth, or a related field is required for this position.
Experience: Typically, candidates should have a minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience supporting projects or technical practice areas. Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private organization is preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite is also advantageous.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with the ability to read, write, and speak the language proficiently. Additional language skills may be considered beneficial but are not specified as mandatory.
