Job Overview: The Accountant position at FHI 360 involves performing essential accounting functions that include recording, classifying, examining, and analyzing financial transactions. This role is crucial for the smooth implementation of the STRengthening Infectious Disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) project in Liberia, which aims to enhance global health security. The Accountant will be responsible for reviewing and consolidating financial reports, processing journal entries, managing cash receipts, and ensuring timely wire payments. Additionally, the role includes responding to inquiries, assisting in training sessions, maintaining general ledger accounts, and producing various accounting reports. The Accountant will also participate in accounting projects such as audits and system upgrades, making this position integral to the financial health of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Accountant will apply accounting principles to a range of fiscal functions including budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting. Key responsibilities include: conducting live training sessions on financial systems for field programs, reviewing monthly financial reports for accuracy, reconciling accounts, maintaining subsidiary ledgers, and preparing VAT reimbursement reports. The Accountant will also review financial reports from subcontractors, assist in analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis projects, and ensure compliance with internal controls. Other duties include preparing risk assessment reports, managing cash requests, and responding to audit requests. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree or its international equivalent in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field. A minimum of 3 years of experience in customer service and maintaining ledger accounts is required. Proficiency in computerized accounting software and spreadsheet applications is essential. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to articulate financial information clearly. Experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO) is preferred, along with familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field is mandatory for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding complex accounting principles and practices, which are critical for the role.

FHI 360 offers a competitive compensation package, with an expected salary range of USD 18,667 - 23,000 annually.
