Job Overview: This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in digital fundraising and marketing within the UN system, specifically through UNHCR's Supporter Engagement Section. Interns will learn about the organization's operations, the current refugee crisis, and the various aspects of digital communications, marketing, and fundraising on a global scale. The Supporter Engagement Section is part of the Department of External Relations and collaborates with various departments, including Private Sector Partnerships. The intern will assist with a variety of digital marketing tasks, focusing on enhancing donor experience, retention, and acquisition, as well as engaging in paid media strategies and digital analytics. This role is ideal for self-motivated individuals who are eager to learn and contribute to the mission of UNHCR.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a range of tasks including managing the donor mailbox by responding to queries from international donors and assisting other markets with their inquiries. They will utilize Salesforce CRM to maintain and update donor information, ensuring data accuracy. The intern will assist in producing fundraising and engagement emails, manage email performance reporting, and oversee the email marketing platform Selligent. They will research new digital ideas and best practices in customer service, user experience, email marketing, and SEO. Additionally, the intern will help audit and test donation pages to improve user experience, manage and optimize paid search and social media accounts, and support the creation of marketing assets using tools like Photoshop and Canva. Administrative support for events and workshops will also be part of their responsibilities, along with performing other tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this internship, candidates must either be recent graduates (having completed their studies within the last two years) or current students in a graduate or undergraduate program at an accredited university. Candidates should have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a relevant field. It is important to note that individuals with close family ties to UNHCR staff members are not eligible for this internship. Desirable qualifications include excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal English proficiency, good administrative capabilities, and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications. Experience in digital fundraising, marketing, and social media is advantageous, as are copywriting skills and familiarity with CRM and email marketing tools.

Candidates must provide proof of vaccination against Covid-19 as part of the recruitment process. For non-EU candidates, obtaining a D-visa is necessary before traveling to Denmark, which may take 4 to 6 weeks, and the office will assist with visa-related issues. Interns who do not receive financial support from other sources will receive an allowance to help cover living expenses.
