Job Overview: The Material Management Assistant position is integral to the OSCE Mission to Skopje, focusing on the logistical and operational support necessary for the effective functioning of the mission's activities. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Material Management Assistant, providing essential services related to the management of goods and supplies within the OSCE premises. This role involves not only the physical handling of materials but also ensuring that all operations comply with safety standards and organizational protocols. The assistant will be expected to engage in various tasks that contribute to the overall efficiency of the mission, including the maintenance of equipment and minor repairs, which are crucial for the smooth operation of the mission's facilities. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Material Management Assistant include, but are not limited to:
Loading, unloading, and moving both non-expendable and expendable supplies, small furniture, appliances, and equipment to and from storage areas;
Delivering and distributing supplies and goods from storage to various offices within the OSCE premises and to other OSCE locations throughout the country using a mission-provided vehicle;
Providing logistical support for departmental events such as conferences and meetings, which includes transporting necessary equipment and ensuring proper handover to final users;
Maintaining organized storage areas to prevent safety hazards and ensure easy access to items;
Inspecting goods received from suppliers for quality and reporting any issues promptly;
Keeping an inventory of repair supplies and tools to ensure availability for maintenance and emergency responses;
Performing minor repairs on furniture and equipment, including air conditioning systems, and ensuring that all items are functional;
Collecting, shredding, and transporting items for disposal and recycling;
Driving official vehicles as required and performing other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess the following qualifications:
Citizenship of or permanent residence in the Republic of North Macedonia;
Completion of secondary education;
A minimum of two years of relevant work experience in stock control and/or building maintenance, such as masonry or carpentry;
Strong written and oral communication skills in both English and local languages;
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse nationalities, ethnicities, religions, and cultural backgrounds;
A valid driving license is mandatory.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position is a completed secondary education, which is equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. This foundational education is essential for understanding the basic principles of logistics and material management, as well as for performing the necessary tasks associated with the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant work experience. This experience should ideally be in areas related to stock control, logistics, or building maintenance. Candidates with backgrounds in trades such as masonry or carpentry will be particularly well-suited for this role, as they will bring practical skills that are directly applicable to the duties outlined.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of the OSCE. Additionally, good communication skills in local languages are required to facilitate effective interaction with colleagues and stakeholders within the mission. Knowledge of other languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
Additional Notes: This position is offered on a part-time basis, with a commitment of 20 hours per week. The monthly remuneration is approximately EUR 550.37, subject to social security deductions. Employees will also benefit from participation in the Cigna medical insurance and the OSCE Provident Fund. The appointment is made at a fixed-term contract level, specifically at the General Services grade G
Candidates should be aware that the OSCE does not reimburse expenses related to travel for interviews or relocation. Furthermore, the OSCE has a mandatory retirement age of 65 years for contracted positions, and candidates must be aware that appointments are subject to medical clearance.
