Job Overview:
This internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is designed to support the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office (RCO) in Skopje, North Macedonia, specifically focusing on youth engagement and participation across various UN initiatives. The intern will play a crucial role in the Future Makers Programme, which aims to empower young people as active contributors to sustainable development. The intern will assist in coordinating and implementing youth engagement activities, volunteerism initiatives, and advocacy efforts, ensuring that young voices are heard in decision-making processes. The role involves working closely with youth organizations, educational institutions, and civil society partners to promote civic engagement and sustainable development awareness among young people. The intern will also support the development of communication materials and outreach strategies to enhance the visibility of youth initiatives and encourage participation in UN campaigns and events.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: supporting the coordination and implementation of the Future Makers Programme; organizing youth engagement activities, workshops, consultations, and events; assisting in the development and implementation of volunteerism initiatives; mobilizing youth participation in UN campaigns; maintaining communication with youth participants and partners; supporting advocacy efforts related to youth participation; preparing communication and visibility materials; reviewing relevant documents and reports; maintaining youth stakeholder databases; organizing meetings with external stakeholders; and drafting summaries and reports of meetings and activities. The intern will also be expected to perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Previous involvement in youth organizations, volunteer initiatives, or civil society activities related to sustainable development is highly desirable. While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to youth development, social sciences, communications, or international relations is preferred. Proficiency in standard software applications, particularly MS Office and Google Workspace, is essential, along with strong communication and networking skills.

Educational Background:
Candidates should be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor's or equivalent), or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program, or have completed such programs. A background in fields related to youth development, social sciences, communications, education, or sustainable development is advantageous. Proof of enrollment or completion of the relevant educational program must be provided during the application process.

Experience:
While no professional work experience is required for this internship, previous engagement in youth initiatives, volunteering programs, or community activities is desirable. Experience in organizing youth activities, events, or campaigns will be considered an asset. The intern should demonstrate a strong interest in sustainable development, volunteerism, and civic engagement, as well as possess the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Macedonian and Albanian is considered desirable, as it will enhance communication with local youth and stakeholders.

This internship is unpaid, and interns are responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and living expenses. Interns must have access to a computer and a reliable internet connection. The UN will provide access to necessary software and databases.
