Job Overview:
The UN Intern position focuses on supporting the RCO's initiatives related to digital transformation, data governance, and capacity building within the UNCT. The intern will work under the supervision of the Data Specialist and will be involved in a variety of tasks aimed at enhancing the UN's digital capabilities and promoting evidence-based decision-making. This role is particularly significant as it aligns with the UN's broader goals of integrating digital tools and emerging technologies into its operations. The intern will have the opportunity to engage with various stakeholders, conduct research, and contribute to the development of policy briefs and analytical materials. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about technology, data, and their application in the context of international development and governance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to:

• Supporting the implementation of digital transformation initiatives across the UNCT, including analyzing trends in digitalization and emerging technologies.
• Conducting research on topics such as AI governance, digital public infrastructure, and responsible technology use.
• Assisting in the preparation of policy briefs, analytical notes, and presentations for RCO and UNCT leadership.
• Engaging with government institutions, academia, and civil society to coordinate stakeholder consultations and meetings.
• Organizing workshops and discussions on AI and digital transformation, and drafting knowledge products for the UN.
• Supporting data governance initiatives, including data quality assurance and metadata management.
• Assisting in the collection, cleaning, and analysis of datasets, as well as monitoring and reporting efforts.
• Developing dashboards and visual analytics products to aid decision-making within the UNCT.
• Delivering training sessions for UN staff on data visualization, analytics, and digital collaboration tools. 1
• Creating user guides and training materials to facilitate knowledge transfer within the organization.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). A background in fields such as Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Digital Transformation, Public Policy, Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Innovation Management, Artificial Intelligence, or Development Studies is highly desired. While professional work experience is not required for this internship, relevant academic projects, coursework, research, volunteering, or extracurricular activities related to digital transformation and data are considered assets. Exposure to public policy, international development, or the UN system is also desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates should possess a relevant educational background, which may include being a student in the final year of a bachelor's degree program or having completed a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. program. The focus of studies should ideally align with the internship's objectives, emphasizing areas such as data science, digital transformation, or public policy. Proof of enrollment or completion of the relevant academic program will be required during the application process.

Experience:
While prior professional work experience is not a prerequisite for this internship, candidates are encouraged to demonstrate relevant academic or extracurricular experiences that align with the responsibilities of the position. This may include participation in projects, research, or volunteer work that showcases an understanding of digital transformation, data governance, or technology applications in development contexts. Such experiences will be beneficial in fulfilling the duties of the internship effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary working language of the UN. Knowledge of Macedonian and Albanian is considered an asset and may enhance the intern's ability to engage with local stakeholders and contribute to the RCO's initiatives more effectively.
