Job Overview:
The Public intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Information Intern position is situated within the Social Media Section of the Department of Global Communications at the United Nations. This internship is designed to provide practical experience in the field of public information and social media management. The intern will engage in various activities that support the Department's communication strategies, particularly through social media platforms. The role requires a proactive approach to researching, drafting, and editing content for social media, as well as monitoring engagement metrics to assess the effectiveness of communication efforts. Interns will also have the opportunity to attend events and assist in the creation of original content, thereby gaining valuable insights into the workings of a major international organization and the role of social media in global communications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a range of duties, including but not limited to: researching and compiling information for social media content, drafting and editing posts, monitoring social media statistics, gathering content from events, assisting in the creation of original posts for platforms like Instagram, Facebook, X, and LinkedIn, attending meetings as an observer, managing meeting agendas, drafting notes, and supporting special projects as assigned. The intern will also be expected to demonstrate familiarity with digital photography and graphic design tools such as Canva, Trello, PowerPoint, and Adobe Photoshop, which are desirable skills for this role. Additionally, the intern will need to provide their own hardware and internet connection to successfully complete the internship.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet specific criteria: they should be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program (second university degree or equivalent) or be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's level). While professional work experience is not required, applicants must have a field of study closely related to the internship. It is essential to list the area of study in the application. Familiarity with software programs such as Canva, Trello, PowerPoint, and Adobe Photoshop is desirable, as is experience with major social media platforms. Applicants must also demonstrate an interest in digital photography and provide details of any relevant experience.

Additional Notes:
The internship is expected to last for three months, with the possibility of extension up to six months. It is a hybrid position, allowing for both in-person and remote work. Interns are not financially compensated by the United Nations, and they are responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and living expenses.
