Job Overview: The Programme Associate position at UNFPA is designed for individuals who are passionate about population dynamics and development. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Programme Associate include:
Programme Formulation and Design: Participate in formulating the country programme and projects by compiling and analyzing information relevant to population dynamics and development. Support the development, finalization, and revision of P&D-related annual work plans and draft project documents. Identify research gaps and conduct literature reviews as needed.
Project Implementation and Coordination: Guide the routine implementation of assigned projects, coordinate the delivery of project inputs, and enhance collaboration among various entities and partners. Strengthen partnerships with key ministries and suggest new partners based on comparative advantages.
Logistics and Administrative Support: Provide logistical assistance for high-level visits, meetings, workshops, and events. Follow up with suppliers on production-related activities.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Finance: Support the evaluation of project activities, conduct field visits, and implement monitoring frameworks. Assist in monitoring financial implementation and provide backup support for project expenditures.
Technical Support, Advocacy, and Knowledge Management: Assist in demographic analysis and data collection for evidence-based planning. Support advocacy efforts by networking with public information and donor contacts. Represent UNFPA in interagency forums as needed.
Expected Results: Ensure that P&D project activities and indicators are realized, consultancies are finalized, training plans are implemented, and relevant reports are developed and submitted.
Required Qualifications: The successful candidate must possess a Master's degree in fields such as Population Studies, Demography, Statistics, or Economics. Additionally, at least 5 years of relevant work experience in population, data programmes, and project coordination is required. Prior training in population and development issues, particularly in sexual and reproductive health (SRH), gender-based violence (GBV), and youth issues, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate experience in programme planning, design, follow-up, and monitoring, with a strong understanding of the Lebanese context and the sustainable development goals (SDGs). Proficiency in current office software applications and corporate IT systems is also required, along with prior experience in the UN system being considered a strong asset.
Educational Background: Candidates must have a Master's degree in relevant fields such as Population Studies, Demography, Statistics, or Economics. Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in population, data programmes, and project coordination. Languages: Fluency in both oral and written English and Arabic is essential for this position.
