Job Overview:

The role involves supporting the planning, coordination, dispatch, monitoring, and reporting of convoy operations to hard-to-reach areas. The Logistics Officer will ensure efficient resource allocation, compliance with safety and operational standards, and timely delivery of cargo from the point of discharge to final destinations. This position is integral to WFP's mission of providing food assistance to beneficiaries, particularly in emergency situations. The officer will work closely with the Logistics Cluster Coordinator and will be responsible for various logistics operations, ensuring that all activities align with WFP's corporate standards and procedures. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining high standards of client service, as well as the ability to adapt to the dynamic challenges of logistics in humanitarian contexts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Officer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Supporting logistics operations and activities to facilitate the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
  • Ensuring timely ordering and delivery of commodities and supplies to authorized partners and destinations.
  • Managing logistics vendors’ contracting activities, including performance monitoring and measurement.
  • Responding to technical queries and requests for support, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of all inquiries.
  • Contributing to budget preparation, monitoring, and revision for all delivery modalities, ensuring adherence to relevant procedures.
  • Monitoring inventory management processes to track trends and account for inventory status from source to beneficiary.
  • Assisting in the management of commodity accounting data quality and integrity.
  • Supporting operational pipeline analyses, assessments, and operational planning for all delivery modalities.
  • Processing documentation for logistics operations, including customs clearance and invoice verification. 1
  • Collecting and compiling data to produce reports and ensure information accuracy in corporate systems. 1
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to support efficient logistics operations management. 1
  • Providing guidance to other support staff to assist them in completing standard tasks. 1
  • Performing other related duties as required, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong set of qualifications to be considered for the Logistics Officer position. This includes effective communication and coordination abilities, particularly in liaising with transport companies.
